Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment

The link between Mind and Social / Environmental-Issues.

The fast-paced, consumerist lifestyle of Industrial Society is causing exponential rise in psychological problems besides destroying the environment. All issues are interlinked. Our Minds cannot be peaceful when attention-spans are down to nanoseconds, microseconds and milliseconds. Our Minds cannot be peaceful if we destroy Nature.

Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment.

EE without borders: reaching out to people and the environment recovering from war and conflict

Recently I watched a National Geographic Special on Kurdistan (in Northern Iraq) recovering from the tragic events during the eighties and now after the Saddam Hussein regime. I read up on the topic a bit and made contact with a few people who have been working in countries like Kurdistan and Afghanistan and obviously for many reasons the environment is not very high on anybody's agenda. Is there anyone in this network that has some experience or info on EE in countries recovering from war and… Continua

Condolences to the people of Mumbai and India

Namaste, I am sure everybody will join me in sending their thoughts and condolences to the people of Mumbai and India in this time of immense sadness - terrorism(and intolerance) is the face of our times. It is the immense loss of life that comes with the new face that saddens me most. May those affected find strength to see these moments through and may those who perpetuated these deeds of terror see the error of their ways and beg forgiveness for their disrespect of human life. Om Shanti.

What does "Green Leaves" mean for you?

Elna said me:

"I love the pictures of the members, it is such a happy bunch of people and have a nice friendly "face" when somebody browses the site - it should be fun for people to want to be part of Green Leaves.

How did you come up with the name? It is very appropriate"

I chose the title "Green Leaves" for several reasons:

I love leaves, I love trees,

GL are tree leaves,

GL means youth, spring,

GL tell thoughts "light", but important… Continua

Rural schools in South Africa can do with help and support related to environmental education and I know they can contribute their experiences as well. I have just invited a collegue at South African National Parks (at the Golden Gate National Park www.sanparks.org) to join the… Continua
