EE without borders: reaching out to people and the environment recovering from war and conflict

Recently I watched a National Geographic Special on Kurdistan (in Northern Iraq) recovering from the tragic events during the eighties and now after the Saddam Hussein regime. I read up on the topic a bit and made contact with a few people who have been working in countries like Kurdistan and Afghanistan and obviously for many reasons the environment is not very high on anybody's agenda. Is there anyone in this network that has some experience or info on EE in countries recovering from war and… Continua

Condolences to the people of Mumbai and India

Namaste, I am sure everybody will join me in sending their thoughts and condolences to the people of Mumbai and India in this time of immense sadness - terrorism(and intolerance) is the face of our times. It is the immense loss of life that comes with the new face that saddens me most. May those affected find strength to see these moments through and may those who perpetuated these deeds of terror see the error of their ways and beg forgiveness for their disrespect of human life. Om Shanti.

Hi Elna! Scuse me for disappear again!

I’ve seen the presentation and I think it’s beautiful. A very nice invitation!

If you agree, I will send it to the teacher that I have told you, but I will change where you say “in Italian” for “in Spanish”, is it ok? May I translate it to Spanish, if necessary?

I wait you answer to contact the teacher again.

Please say Karin that it’s a pleasure to know her!!

Until soon!

Hi Elna!!!

As you can see it is common to answer soon to the comments left here, so... don' worry, but scuse me too!

About the contact between schools, I could not contact anybody here. We are still on holiday. So maybe we can give some more time to your other partners, if you want to. In any case I think it is a great idea to link your other friend and Eleonora, if she is interested.

That'all for now, I will remain in contact, but i'm working too much too...

Until soon! Hasta pronto.

Hello Elna
I'm glad hear you again.
I am glad that Clare is a new member of Green Leaves.
I hope she can contribute to growth of this network

I have some news.
It seems that I will go to Montreal with the Director of my park (Parco Nord Milano).
I am very happy.
A month ago I sent - without much hope - an abstract for a poster.
And the poster has been accepted with title "Surfing by foot: internet to highlight, share, organize, environmental education experience"
This poster will show a possible working network at three levels: local (Parco Nord and schools nearby), regional (the system of protected areas of Lombardy region), a possible international system (greenleaves).
Have you some ideas to suggest me?
Do you think to go to Montreal?
I hope to see you in Montreal

Dear Carolina,

First Happy New Year - yes I know it is almost March but this year has just taken off with speed and I have been really busy with work hence being a bit quiet on Green Leaves. I see that Clare Peddie from Sharenet in South Africa has also joined - she is a wonderful friend and I have just sent her an email asking about the school-to-school contact that we have been talking about. She has access to a group that deals with Eco Schools and I think as none of my other 'partners' are really responding, this could be an option to pursue. If you want to, drop her a note and talk about the schools project and lets see where it goes.

I am glad you are doing well and that you have had a good holiday and New Year.

Talk again soon.

Hi Elna!!!

I’m back! How are you? How have you initiated the New Year?

I went to Buenos Aires for a few days with my husband and family. We visited some beautiful places, including a zoo, because on the web page it said they make some activities of environmental education. But the educative area was closed, for holiday.

In one month the schools back to normal activities, so we can think about the activities, and initiate to contact them.

Until soon!!!
